World Cup final: Immortality and greatness beckon on Messi, Mbappe and co.

Diego Maradona did not win the Champions league, neither was he ever a pichichi winner, but by leading Argentina to World Cup glory in Mexico in 1986, he is seen as a demi-god in Argentina even in death as he is still celebrated and regarded as immortal.

Another Argentine, Lionel Messi has won everything there is in club football, he also added the Copa America, yet he is still not given his due respect in some quarters despite breaking every available records in football. Seven Balon D'or are no mean feat. However, this Sunday in Qatar lies another opportunity for him to cement his name in immortality and finally banish the demon of doubts in some quarters.

Standing before Messi and the quest for glory and immortality is the French National team who are the defending champions, also loaded with quality players and Messi's team mate at PSG Kylian Mbappe who is the hottest young player in the world, not to talk of evergreen striker, Olivier Giroud who is currently the all time highest goal scorer for Le Bleus.
