Salah on track to equal Okocha's goal total.

When the two most successful teams in the tournament's history, Cameroon and Egypt, face off for a place in the final on Thursday (today), Mohamed Salah might equal or break Austin Okocha's goal record at the African Cup of Nations, according to PUNCH Sports Extra.

The match in Yaounde's Olembe Stadium is a rematch of the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations final, which the Indomitable Lions won by a solitary goal.

Salah has six goals in 15 games in three tournament appearances in Cameroon, scoring twice and assisting once.

The Liverpool striker is one goal short of breaking the record set by the former Nigerian captain. In 22 games, Okocha scored seven goals.

Osei Kofi (Ghana), Ali Gresha (Egypt), Roger Milla (Cameroon), Taher Abouzaid (Egypt), Abedi Pele (Ghana), Benni McCarthy (South Africa), Flavio (Angola), Christopher Katongo (Zambia), and Frederic Kanoute (Zambia) are the other players with seven goals at the tournament (Mali).

Vincent Aboubakar, the Cameroon captain, is presently the leading scorer at this year's AFCON with six goals in five games. He might potentially match the goal totals of Hossam Hassan and Benni McCarthy.

With seven goals, the tandem was joint top scorer at the 1998 AFCON in Burkina Faso.
