Ronaldo leads nine other players in a show of ingratitude

A group of nine Portugal players led by Cristiano Ronaldo are silent after the sack of their manager Fernando Santos after their World Cup exit at the hands of Morocco in the quarter-finals. It capped off a tournament dominated by Ronaldo's misdemeanor and the fact that he did not see eye-to-eye with his coach in Qatar even before he was dropped in the knockout games. The rest players who are silent are Diogo Costa, Jose Sa, Diogo Dalot, Antonio Silva, Joao Palhinha, Ruben Neves, Ricardo Horta and Rafael Leao.

Such is the situation in the team that Portuguese media have documented the division among the players as nine stars have failed to acknowledge Santos following his sacking, even though the same led the team to Euro glory in 2016 coupled with the Nations League in 2018-19.
