Qatar 2022 Snub : 180 caps not good enough to earn Sergio Ramos a place.

How many players in the history of football have amassed 100 caps? Not to talk of 180. Yet this great feat is not enough to guarantee Spanish defender and one of the greatest of all time, Sergio Ramos a place in Spain's squad for the Qatar World Cup 2022 as Luis Enrique the Spanish National team boss did not select the most capped player in La Rojas' history.

Spain crashed out on penalties in the Round of 16 stage to hosts Russia back in 2018 before Luis Enrique took charge of the national team.

They will be hoping to build on last year's European Championship semi-final defeat to Italy, they are seen as outsiders for the title, even as they are expected to excel in a fairly good group that consists of Costa Rica, Japan and Germany.

However, a lots of questions are still going to be asked as regard Sergio Ramos omission because the former Real Madrid player is still performing at the highest level with Paris Saint Germaine. A huge asset anytime, any day from set piece.

A leader and an inspirational figure, time will tell, if this omission will come back to haunt Luis Enrique or not.
