When Pundits and former England Internationals, Allan Shearer and Rio Ferdinand spoke about Messi after the game against Poland as they applauded his contribution to Argentina's second win of the tournament which qualified them to the round of 16, they are talking about the best player of his generation.
For Geordie and Premier League legend Shearer who highlighted that Messi is not as quick as he was during his younger days, yet his patrotic teammates still rely on the star when push comes to shove.
Even in games where he didn't score like the one against Poland where he missed a penalty, some of his passes and ability with the ball still endure that his teammates look up to him.
For an emphatic Rio Ferdinand, even when the Argentina legend wasn't at his best' against Poland, he still lauded him as the star of the show with his trademark dribbles and penetrations.
