Former NFF President, Amaju Pinnick, the man under whose watchful eyes Nigeria Super Eagles failed to qualify for the ongoing World Cup as Ghana Black Stars edged the Super Eagles to the Qatar 2022 finals after advancing on the away-goal rule is lamenting one thing as he said: Victor Osimhen would have guided the Super Eagles to glory just like Diego Maradona did at the 1986 World Cup in Mexico with Argentina.
Even as the Sport administrator apologised to Nigerians for his role in Nigeria’s absence at the Mundial, he was very emphatic when he said World Cup [Qatar 2022] could have been Nigeria’s World Cup.
“Like I told the African teams [like Senegal and Morocco], we want an African team to win it [ the World Cup], but if you people don’t, Nigeria will be the first to win it, maybe in the next World Cup.
